October 2011 - First of the NE wind arrives with the dragon Flies. The new Starboard Catamaran Windsurfing Boards are proving to be a smash hit for teaching our Windsurfing Courses. We now have a zero faiure rate when teaching windsurfing.
The Starboard Start Catamaran's are not on the market yet, but we have been testing many designs with Starboard, searching for perfect shape and design features. We were already one of the best places in the world to begin your windsurfing journey, now we may just be the very best. The Starboard Start Catamaran provides a super stable platform, so that our new windsurfing students can concentrate on making friends with the sail and with the wind, while not wasting valuable energy in falling. This changes everything - In the 1980's when Windsurfing was huge - windsurfing was also, incredibly difficult and quite expensive. Now the equipment is lighter, faster, easier to master and believe it or not - cheaper. At Amara Watersports we remain on the leading edge of Windsurfing Schools due to our commitment to hiring the best local instructors from the Famous Windsurfing Association of Thailand's National Racing Team. First week of June only gentle evening wind. Since then - 2 weeks of storms bringing fantastic wind and decent waves also. Paddle-boarding is really taking off also. I am paddling each day except Monday and Friday at around 5.30 - 6.00 pm for about 45min to an hour, feel free to join me if you are in town, no matter what your level. New Paddle-boards in stock and selling fast, but most importantly is the great feedback we are getting from people who are really enjoying their boards. The new Starboard Lycra is in stock at last and we also have Flying Object Surf Shoes on the shelf - these are simply the best surf shoe I have ever used. Great to see so many families coming to Amara's at Blue Lagoon, and Parents also bringing their youngsters to develop basic understanding of wind and wave.  We had our first good storm of the season, and the more experienced water-people were out there showing off and enjoying the stronger than usual forces at play. In between the storms, there are plenty of light wind days for learning to Windsurf or for first Paddle-board SUP lessons in Thailand. We are having a great deal of success passing on our "water-people" skills as our teaching methods continue to evolve. Evening Wind from Side Shore seams to be the pattern for May. We hosted Thailand's biggest ever SUP race as part of the Starboard and Severne's International Dealer conference also - read more to see the video from the race.
