At Amara Watersports, we have been using Dacron Training Sails for teaching Windsurfing for over 30 years.
The sizes we have found most useful are 3.0M and 5.0M for the first lesson up to the first 1 - 10 hours of use practice.
 

What is Dacron and why do we use it for training sails?

  • Dacron is a tough synthetic polyester fabric.
  • We use Dacron for our Trainer sails in sizes 3.0M, 5.0M and 6.2M.
  • Dacron Sails are heaviest type of windsurfing sail but they are the strongest.
  • Dacron Sails are more UV resistant than other sail materials.
  • Dacron Sails are ideal for teaching people how to Windsurf 
  • Dacron Sails are ideal for Rental Sails on rocky beaches and for non expert Windsurfers.
  • If we are unsure of a customers skill level, we give them a Dacron Sail to try first. 
  • Dacron Sails are not high performance. 
  • Some Dacron Sails are made with lower grade Dacron these sails fall apart in one or two seasons, this can be embarrassing as customer can easily break them.
  • We supply, use and recommend only Highest Quality Dacron Sails. 

3.0M Square Meter Windsurfer Training Rig 

  • For Ladies and children trying for first few hours.
  • First Time Windsurfers with little strength.
  • For teaching anybody when the wind is strong.
  • Can be used with IDO system
 5.0M Square Meter Windsurfer Training Rig 
  • For bigger Ladies and children or any Man trying for first few hours.
  • For Windsurfers of small body size who have a few hours practice with the 3.0M Sail and now need more power.
  • Not recommended to be used with IDO system.

What is the IDO Windsurfing System?

  • The IDO windsurfing system replaces the normal Mast Base and Extension with a super strong limited motion Ball joint.
  • The IDO windsurfing system prevents the Windsurfing Rig from falling over when the student drops it.
  • The IDO windsurfing system removes the need to pick up the sail as the sail remains near vertical when released. 
  • Great for teaching small children or anybody with below average strength.
  • We recommend only using the IDO system with the 3.0M Sail to prevent overloading the Mast and Board.

Do Amara Water Sports use the IDO system?

  • Yes we use the System for teaching small children who are not yet strong enough to pick up the sail on their own.
  • Our instructors look after the students and the equipment with great care, if you are not sure about your staff, dont use this system.
  • We use a leash between the student and the board to prevent the board sailing away without the student when we use the IDO system.

Do The 3.0M and 5.0M Dacron Training Rig is made up of the following parts:

  • Boom - Light Weight Alloy with soft EVA covering - same boom used for 2.0-5.0M Start Rigs. Reduced Diameter for kids and ladies.
  • Mast - 3 piece Alloy Mast is light and strong. 3.0M Rig uses 2 pieces and the 5.0M uses all 3 pieces.
  • Extension - Joins the mast to the Mast Base - No warranties with these items ever, they are bullet proof.
  • Mast Base, with Adaptor - one Base can be used with All our Windsurf sets, Adaptor for 3.0 and 5.0 rigs.
  • Delux Up-Hual Line - Amara Watersports own design developed to protect sensitive hands and make it easier to pick up the sail.
  • 3.0M or 5.0M High Quality Dacron Sail in high visibility colours and UV resistant polyester Sail Cloth.
  • Optional IDO system available with 3.0M Rig - replaces Extension and Mast Base and adaptor.
